Ok as a little project I suggested to my dad we could install an aftermarket fog light kit into the lower section of his Dodge Spirit, where the factory foglamps had disintegrated over the years before he bought the car. We plan to but the aftermarket pair in the empty rectangular spaces I buy a kit from Schuck's that would easily fit.

The troubling part of the instructions is that they designed these to run directly off the battery and expect you to bust a hole through the firewall and plop the switch (this fugly thing that looks like the ON switch from a 1970's coffeemaker) someplace inside the car.

Could I just install this much more cleanly by wiring the new stuff from the ends of the OEM fog lamp wiring? Would seem less drastic to the car and would save time.
