How can I record shows saved on my Scientific American 8000HD cable box to a dvd recorder or computer?
Thank you for any responses! I can't figure out the answer, and am at my wit's end! (By the way, I've tried the VCR archive outputs, and that doesn't work. I've also asked my cable company, and they've said they "don't support" it, which I guess makes sense.) I've tried changing dvd recorders, and even tried a VHS. Nothing's worked. Anyways, thanks!
take a set of composite A/V cables (Stereo -- red/ white/yellow) and run them from the output jacks in the rear of the 8000HD to the input jacks on your DVD recorder. Set the recorder to record the input that you hooked to, i.e. video 1, video2, etc. Then when the recorder is recording, push "play" on the 8000HD. To record into your computer you would need a video capture card (VCC) with a composite video jack or a tuner input and software that would likely come with the card. Hook the yellow to the VCC and use the sound card for the left and right (white and red) audio.
